Welcome to our website. I am 35 and 2007 has been a special year as
it marked my having been involved with collies for 30 years. I was 5 years old when
the first collie arrived, a golden and white bitch pup. We grew up together
and in due course other collies arrived as the years went by so I have been
fortunate enough to have them around me for pretty much all my life and
cannot imagine living without them.
Why collies?: There may be some reasons
why collies are my obsession. My grandad and greatgranddad were from the borders
area in Northumberland and the
family farmed near Haltwhistle nr Hadrians Wall. . . in real Border Country. My
grandmother was from the Republic of Ireland from a small village called
Carlingford situated on the edge of Carlingford Loch in County Louth and
surrounded by the Mountains of Mourn. My uncle Billy worked collies on small
flocks of sheep and cattle. I
guess somethings are in the blood! My other love is horses
and I have a special place in my
heart for now my long-gone Welsh B x C ride-drive mare whom I shared many
happy teenage years with until she passed away when I was 18. On finishing school I initially
worked as a veterinary nurse, then worked with horses, followed by a return
to college to study art and design in London, I then worked for the Cambridge
University Press for 10 years in typesetting and page make up. I now work for a local pet/ feed
store based on a farm in a lovely rural location and really enjoy NOT being
in an office :o) I am a member of the Midlands Border
Collie Club, Ely and District DTC and Redgates Agility Club. We live on the south-east outskirts
of Cambridge City in a very pleasant suburb on the fringes of the
countryside. A special thank you to Alan and
Janet Humphrey's of Ely and District DTC for all their help and support and
for introducing me to the world of competitive agility almost 10 years ago
back in 1998 - and a big thank
you to all that have been of support to me over the years - you know who you
are :o) I hope you enjoy your visit.
